Technology’s role in the building services industry

As building services contractors look to improve the way that they support and serve their customers, technology has become an ever increasing tool to leverage. We are always looking for more innovative ways to communicate with techs in the field, and keeping our clients informed. I often ask myself how BSC’s even operate without the use of cell phones with cameras, and then I’m reminded of the parts of our business that technology cannot replace. People.

People watching people – proactive oversight. Technology is a must, and our continued use and leveraging of it will certainly improve our ability to improve our level of service, but team work, mentorship, and oversight are what ensures the service level is consistent. Consistent service is what our clients pay us for. People watching people is one of things that I love about this business most! The opportunity to coach, support, oversee, and learn from your labor. It’s what separates the good companies from the great!

When you’re interviewing your building services contractors, some key indicators should be, are they investing in oversight – do they place a value on retaining business rather than just generating new business?
